West Preston’s Finest

Finalists for the 2023, 2024 and 2025 Australian Folk Music Awards’ Artist of the Year, Gusto Gusto are dance floor favourites. Hailing from West Preston, a tiny pocket in Melbourne’s northern suburbs, the last two years have seen them storming stages including Glastonbury Festival (UK), Woodford Folk Festival (QLD), Dark MOFO (TAS), Port Fairy Folk Festival (VIC) and Brunswick Music Festival (VIC), and supporting acts Snarky Puppy (US), Skerryvore (Scotland), The Bamboos and The Black Jesus Experience.

In October 2024, Gusto Gusto released their anticipated debut album ‘…To The Ocean They Returned’, a raucous blend of violin, trumpet and clarinet, backed by accordion, guitar, bass and drums.

Debuting at #5 on the ARIA Charts, To The Ocean was put forward for consideration for the ARIA’s Best World Music Album. Lead by single ‘Gorgon’ – a drum-led dance explosion with a moody trumpet solo and a ripping guitar feature, Gorgon was followed by second single ‘Eos/Astraeus’ – a latin-inspired waltz through time signatures and feels featuring the clarinet and electric bass.

To The Ocean came out with a national Australian tour including festival shows across five states.

Gusto Gusto’s second album Tyrannosauroborus releases on March 6th, 2026 and pushes the band toward a new, deeper, more psychedelic direction. Pulling from funk, afrobeat, djent and slow jam influences, the album promises dance-floor fillers with a twist.

The album comes out with a national tour including Cygnet Folk Festival (TAS), Eltham Jazz Festival (VIC), Newstead Live (VIC), Castlemaine State Festival (VIC) and Grampians Grape Escape (VIC). The Melbourne launch show is on March 6th at the Evelyn Hotel with supports from Bromham (ADL) and Malcura.

For fans of: late night boogies, funk horn sections, key-changes and festival vibes. Expect a lot of raucous energy.
